Safaris in Tanzania komen vaak op éénzelfde manier tot stand. U gaat een reisbureau binnen, daar boekt U een safari bij een Europese firma. Deze firma zoekt een lokale (Tanzaniaanse) partner, en die partner huurt uiteindelijk een voertuig en een gids. Slechts het dure topsegment kan zich eigen voertuigen en gidsen veroorloven.

Ter plaatse herken je de Europese firma enkel nog aan het plaatje met hun logo, dat op een speciaal voorziene plaats in de deur van het voertuig wordt geschoven.

Claws safaris is opgericht met de bedoeling hier wat aan te veranderen.

1. Europese tour-operatoren en reisbureaus zijn uit het prijskaartje vewijderd.
2. Claws huurt enkel jeeps, geen minibusjes. Naar onze mening is Afrika bekijken uit zo‘n aquarium de naam “safari” niet waardig.
3. U weet wie Uw gids zal zijn; David Meishaa. Een enthousiaste, jonge gids met toch al een pak ervaring. Hij werkte eerst voor Tanapa (Tanzanian National Parks) en kent dus het safari-wereldje door en door.
4. Claws biedt enkel persoonlijke safaris; U wordt niet ongewild opgescheept met onbekende medereizigers.

Pixelpower maakt geen deel uit van Claws safaris, maar werkt er wel mee samen als er nood is aan fotografische begeleiding ter plaatse. De website van Claws werd opgericht door Pixelpower als vriendendienst.

Safaris in Tanzania are often arranged in a similar way. You enter a travel shop, and there you book a safari with a European tour operator. This firm then hires a local (Tanzanian) partner, and that partner hires a vehicle and a guide. Only the expensive top segment can afford their own vehicles and guides.

While on holiday, you will recognize the European firm only by the little plate with their logo, which is temporarily mounted on the vehicle's doors.

4. Claws only offers personal safaris; you will not share your trip with other people unknown to you.
